I am back from vacation; we had a wonderful week even though we faced severe storms and flooding almost every day. I will be sharing more when I begin a new travel series on Wednesday. I hope to visit your blogs soon and return the love you all have graciously left on my blog in my absence, but as you are all probably aware, when one is away from home for a while, there is so much to be done when you return...especially if you have a garden. There are so many tomatoes that need to be picked, and I had to toss at least a dozen cucumbers because they had gotten so big on the vine!
In the meantime, I want to get back to a regular blogging schedule, starting with a craft post. Below is a card I made for my daughter and son-in-laws birthdays which are just a couple of weeks apart. This card was a labor of love as the stitching took forever, but I love the way it turned out. The frame is just breath-taking to me.
To make this card I used Spellbinder's Stitched Ladybug die set (It's on clearance right now, so if you want it I'd scoop it up right now as it's half price!). I cut all the pieces out using different shades of card stock, then I did the stitching and assembled everything together. I used white floss for the frame, ladybug head, and dots and red floss for the wings. I didn't do anything creative with this card but just followed the example given on the back of the die card set.
For the background, I used a "Meandering Floral" embossing folder (no longer available) and dry embossed a beautiful shade of green cardstock.
I love ladybugs and I love how this card turned out, it's as "Cute as a Bug".
Have A Great Day! Amy

DeleteOh no, I am so sorry to hear about the severe weather and flooding on your vacation. We have a lot of that here in St. Louis and it is never fun. But, even worse when you're on vacation!! I am sure you still had a great time and glad you stayed safe. I can't wait to read about it. I love your card, it is so beautiful and I love all the different textures you used in it.

Thanks Carrie. Even though it rained every day, it came in spurts so we were still able to enjoy a good part of the day.
DeleteWelcome back from your vacation. I'll look forward to the recap(s) to come! Your card has so many beautiful details! The frame and the ladybug with all the stitching details along with the vibrant colors make it extra special! I'm sure your daughter and SIL appreciated your thoughtfulness! Good luck with harvesting the tomatoes!
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura. I will have lots to share in the weeks to come.
DeleteReally enjoyed this! There is something very genuine and interesting about the way you have shared it, and it makes the whole post enjoyable.

DeleteThis is so cute Amy, loving all the stitching and absolutely loving the ladybug! Great sketch too and fun colors!
ReplyDeleteI saw your comment about not being able to guest design at this time for my garden party. I'm always open to offer a later guest design spot so if late fall or winter (or even early spring) would work for you just let me know. I know you sometimes do home renovating projects in the later months so maybe still not possible, but I wanted to let you know from my end you can choose any month you'd like :) Theme is always anything in or from a garden.
Thanks Ellie. Yes, I'd love to guest design as soon as harvest season slows down for me. Thanks so much.
DeleteMade me think of the beautiful European folk arts. Intricate and wonderful!
