What to Wear to a Hair Appointment

When I decided to do two fashion posts a week instead of one I worried this would happen:  I wouldn't have two blog-worthy outfits a week to share.  As a full time homemaker, I don't go out much.  I leave my home on average twice a week:  once to go to church, and once to go shopping.  This past week I had more excitement in my life as I had my son's graduation to attend.  I had a cute outfit planned for that event, but the weather took me by surprise and I ended up wearing a scarf and sweater all day; which kind of ruined the look of the outfit.  If you missed my son's graduation post and that outfit, just scroll down.

I did however have a hair appointment last week, so I was forced to get dressed in 'real clothes' and leave my house.  I get my hair colored and cut every six weeks.  I have had the same hairdresser for seventeen years.  My hair appointment is probably my biggest social event of the month.  I enjoy sitting in Brenda's cute shop and catching up on all the town's gossip.  You see, when you are a small town hair dresser, you hear EVERYTHING!  In fact, if my husband and I are ever wondering about something that happened in town, we don't check the newspaper,  I just say 'I don't know, I'll ask Brenda next time I see her.'.  She always knows everything thats going on in town. :)

Funny as it may sound, I actually struggle with what to wear every time I get ready for a hair appointment.  I don't want to wear anything nice as it might get damaged by hair dyes or covered in hair clippings.  But since I never know who I might run into I don't want to look like a total slob either. And then I think, "Why bother looking nice at all?  Your just running into town and coming straight home.".  So I usually go for a happy medium, like this outfit:

It was actually a fairly warm spring day, so I chose comfy cobalt blue cotton cargo pants from Express (old), a sheer, oversized white tee (also from Express and old) with a white tank underneath, and some minty loafers from Roxy (old).  I wore old clothing that looked cute, but if it got ruined it wouldn't be the end of the world.  And I dressed very comfortable for sitting in a chair for a few hours.

My highlights were still good, so all Brenda did was touch up my roots and give me a fresh cut and style.
The best way to dress up a casual outfit is by accessorizing.  I added a minty necklace from Francesca's  (old) that matched my shoes.
I'm getting a little better at my downward selfies.  I really should invest in a tripod so I won't have to take selfies anymore, but,  I always struggle spending money on anything that isn't clothing related. :)
So what about you?  What would you wear to a hair appointment?  Or do you not even think about it, and just go?  I'd love to hear from you!

Have a great day!  Amy

  1. That's a really cute outfit for a hair appointment, Amy! I really like that tee. (And your hair looks great here!) I usually look like a slob at my appointments. :/ Just a tee shirt and jeans since I only go to/from the car and then I'm covered up by the cape. And like you said, I don't want my clothes getting ruined!

  2. Hi Amy! I always debate about what to wear to the salon, too. It all determines if I have errands to run afterwards. Hope you have a great weekend!

  3. Your hair looks terrific, Amy! I love cobalt and mint together - so fresh! Normally I am running to get my hair done at lunch, or right when I get off work, so I am usually fully dressed. So far nothing has been ruined!

  8. That's so funny because I struggle with what to wear to get my hair done too. You want to look cute, but don't want to wear anything that might get ruined. Anyway, you look great ... love your hair and that fab necklace too. Thanks so much for being a part of Fun Fashion Friday!

  9. Loving your new hair cut. I go to the salon every 5 weeks and what I wear depends what's planned for the rest of the day.
