Spring Trends with Ageless Style

Ageless Style is a monthly style challenge and link up for women of all ages.   Each month we pick a different theme and style an outfit based on that theme.  This month's theme is "Spring Trends" and was picked by Bo!

Well it's that time of year again;  when we show off our spring fashion when it's still winter outside in Wisconsin.  Every year Ageless Style does a spring fashion post, and every year I have to photograph inside because it's too cold outside.  We are a group from all over the United States and Canada so some of us are definitely experiencing warmer weather, but not this gal 😢. In fact, on the exact day I did this photo shoot, we had a Historic Snowstorm of 21 inches!  The last time it snowed that much at one time was 1976.  My poor husband and son had to shovel our very long driveway by hand as we do not own any plows or snowblowers.  We never felt we needed them before and all the professional plowers were busy for days.  It took them all day to shovel us out, and they were sore, but they did it!
But the good news is spring will arrive this weekend as we are supposed to have temperatures in the 70's, but the bad news is with all this snow I'm worried about flooding or a complete mud bath now 😟.

Anyway, onto Spring Fashion!  Warmer days will get here soon!

Bo researched the new Spring Trends and this was what she discovered:

Lace & Satin
Fringe
Colors: blush pink, buttery yellow, red, sage, blue & white
Peplum
Drop waist skirts
Polka dots
Silk scarves
Bright color blocking
Oversized bags
Black sunglasses
Asymmetrical looks

Now, with most fashion these days, there was nothing "new" on the list.  I've been realizing more and more that there isn't anything new in fashion any year, it's more "what's trending" that season.  I was actually very happy to see silk scarves on that list because I am a scarf girl.  The neck tie especially is trending, which is just a little scarf tied around your neck like jewelry.  These were really in-style back in 2015-2018 and I'm thrilled to see them again.  I love wearing scarves in the spring because they provide that extra warmth I need on our chilly spring days.  I also feel they really elevate an outfit.

I also picked another item off of Bo's list:  "shades of blue".  I bought these pants last year at THE DOLLAR STORE.  Yes, you heard me right, The Dollar Store.  I thought they were such a pretty shade of blue and were so comfy.  I ended up wearing them for Easter but never showed them on my blog before until now.  Originally they came with a built-in top but I have such a long torso, they didn't fit.  So I cut the top off, and wore them as pants instead!

I paired my blue pants with a white linen top from TJMaxx and white sandals.  I added the pink necktie to bring more color into the outfit and to also coordinate with the blue pants as the scarf has shades of blue in it too.

To style a necktie, you simply fold it in half to form a triangle then roll it up starting at the pointy end.  Then just tie it to your neck with a double knot.  Easy peasy!

These pants are so comfy I love to wear them when we travel.  The material is so light weight I can wear them even on the hottest days of summer.

Here are some more spring scarf ideas from my archives:

Pom-Pom Jeans

I for one couldn't be happier spring scarves are back!  What about you?  Anything on the list catch your eye?  I'd love to hear from you.

And now be sure to check out what type of outerwear the other ladies in the group are wearing and link up with us as well.

Have A Great Day!  Amy

  1. This is such a great outfit and everything about it screams spring!!!! Love that shade of blue on you so much. The pants and the top look so comfy and lightweight, they seem perfect for even for cooler summer evenings. Nice touch with the scarf, it really looks nice. I've never been able to pull off a scarf like this. I think I have a things tight to my neck aversion because I also could never wear chokers when they were in.

    1. Thanks Bo! Now we just need warmer weather to wear it. It's supposed to be in the 70's again this weekend, but with all the snow we got it will be very messy. I wore chokers when they were in, but I didn't like them because they would twist on my neck all the time and end up backwards. It was so annoying.

  2. Brr... you would have froze outdoors for those pictures! I love your outfit and cannot believe you got the pants at the dollar store! Great find! I am glad you share more pictures of scarves: great inspo! I love my scarves on cooler spring days and I have been finding all kinds of ways to wear them. I thrifted a few square ones last year to add to my collection.

    1. Yes, I would have frozen and half my body would have buried under snow. I've been actually shocked at all the cute clothes at The Dollar Store. I check the clothing section every time I go there. You are such a great thrifter!

  3. Even inside I am far too cold to pose with spring fashions! LOL. We had no power the last few days so it was pretty chilly in our house... even with the wood stove and generator going it just can't keep the whole house warmer than low 60's. Your outfit is super cute! Those dollar store pants were an amazing find.

    1. Thanks so much! Yes, sometimes it can be too cold to pose for spring fashions indoors. I wonder what kind of wood stove you have. We only heat our house with two wood stoves and on a typical winter day it's hard to keep the temperature down. It's like 80-90 degrees on a sunny day in our house. It has to be below zero to keep our house temperature normal or low.

Those pants are fabulous...you're like my mom and find the best things anywhere.

  5. Hi Amy!!! You look LOVELY! I do like the scarf trend. I seen it kind of coming back on the scene in upscale areas this summer. Now… it is full throttle! That blue is beautiful! Dollar store can surprise you!

Wow….about the snow!!!!! Well…enjoy your upcoming spring weekend!

  6. Yesterday, I would have said it was still cold here, but today it reached the 70s. We have really been on a rollercoaster of temperatures. I love that you cut off a jumpsuit to make these pants! They are lovely. I really love your kitchen! I am thinking of doing something like that in my living room just to add more character.

    1. Thank you. We have been on a roller coaster as well and it will be 70's again on Saturday. Hopefully we're done with the snow though! I loved the pants on the jumpsuit and I thought it was worth trying to cut off the top instead of returning them because it didn't fit since I only paid a few dollars. I'm actually standing in my dining room, but the kitchen is pretty cute too. My house was built in the late 1800's so it does have character. :)

  8. The scarves do look so nice on you. I especially love the red polka dotted scarf paired with the white top. And what a great unexpected find from the Dollar store.
I wish I could wear scarves but they just bother me so I only wear them in the winter when it's really cold. As for the rest of the list of spring trends, I will definitely be wearing shades of blue and have black prescription sunglasses :) Oh, and I have a lacy top in navy for the summer. Hopefully I find another one with some lace accents in a lighter color. I did see one I'd absolutely love but it's almost $300!!! (Not for me in this lifetime LOL.)

    1. Thank you Ellie. Scarves don't bother me at all, but I know what you mean as I struggle wearing turtlenecks. In the winter, I don't feel I need a scarf because my coat collars all go up so high (Unless it's bitter cold and I want the scarf to cover my face). Sounds like you're all set for spring! I would never pay $300 for a top either :)

  11. Hi Amy, Love your outfit, especially the lovely blue pants. I go for comfort as well as pretty colors. I need an easy to wear pair of pants to refresh my capsule/minimalist wardrobe this spring. Think I'm going to shop at the thrift store, especially since what I've seen in the stores and online is so expensive and poorly made. Good luck with the weather and be well.

  15. Love everything about your featured look. I like the tiny, lightweight scarves, too. And big bulky ones, as well, but I don't need all of that extra on top of my already generous chest!! Your little neck tie adds such interest and color to your spring outfit. That white top is darling, too. You look terrific and must have discovered the fountain of youth because you just keep getting younger.

    1. It's weird, because I am seeing standing pools of water in low lying areas yet we had a burn ban this past weekend because of strong winds and they said it was too dry. I don't get it. Yes, lucky Dollar Store find!
